In short, buy the rod, target the fastest skill up fish. Fishing the moat carp yourself would take you at least 2 months with 1 account, while burning cru/dynamis/VW drops could get you the money for a Lu Shang's in a week. In today's game, it's actually much faster to do other stuff to raise gil and actually buy the rod now. Most of those guides are severely outdated. would it be best to follow that or target fish that skill well and i can sell then buy all my moat carps? i found a guide on the wiki for targeting skill up fishes along with carps. You cant "prepare" for Matsya except get a lot of bait and be ready to be disapointed. I can tell you, however, that I get 9 seconds to reel in a matsya at 106 with ebisu and w/o ring enchantments. Is this because I am so low or does it stay this way for the rest of fishing?
