I decided, against my better judgement, to go with PhotoSync. When I picked up my 2018 M3 individual, two weeks ago. Especially since I have had 3M Crystalline on my personal cars, I know what to expect and what I had expected PhotoSync to be and what it should be better at. By far, 3M Crystalline sits on top of that list, apparently F1 Stratos comes very close to Crystalline but as I do not have experience I cannot confirm. Considering my location in SoCal, we get various heat and weather here so I have a pretty good general idea of what you can expect from these types of Ceramic Tints. The only one that I have not had experience with is F1 aka Formula 1 Pinnacle and the newer F1 Stratos. Huper Optik, 3M Crystalline, 3M Color Stable, SunTek CXP and Llumar CTX w/ Air 80. So, I have real world experience with most of them. On my personal cars up until this point, I have had almost all of the well-known tints put on the cars in our house hold. Before all of that though I will tell you why. The most likely hood is I will take a pretty big hit on this but for me I'd rather do it and be happy than constantly be irritated. In the past few days my grievance with this tint and grown worse to the point now that I’m going to remove it. NOTE: Nano Ceramic IR TINT has no metallic content (like older IR tints), so it doesn't interfere with RF and electronic signals (cellphones, wifi, keyless entry, toll devices, etc.).A few of my personal friends as well as Justin from AutoTalent has known I have been privately complaining a lot about PhotoSync. Let the tint cure for a week or more before doing the ClearPlex. If you track your car or drive on LA freeways on a long daily might help protect the glass from debris and shrapnel. You can find local tint installers on the XPEL and 3M websites.ĬlearPlex and EXOShield make PPF film for the windshield.

If you have a tricked out M3 with super loud exhaust and a supercharger, plus 5% tint all around, you don't want to get a darker tint on the windshield in case the CHP or local sheriff pulls you over. The XPEL PPF shop only offers 3M tint, and not XPEL Prime tint, even though they are a certified XPEL product installer.

I have to go to one shop for XPEL PPF and a different shop for XPEL tint. It is funny.most tint brands force their installers to only offer one brand of tint and block them from offering their competitor's brand.

Most important to do this if you live in very hot climates, like the Southeast and Southwest USA. Most sensitive interior leather components are very expensive to replace on BMWs. Try to park in a garage at home and a parking garage at work to preserve your interior. 70% doesn't sound completely clear, but it is.Īpplying IR Ceramic Tint on all your glass is important, since both the UV and IR energy destroys/cooks the expensive plastic and leather materials in your interior. Rule of thumb is that the higher the VLT the more clear it is than you would imagine. XR Plus.ģM Crystaline is the highest performance ceramic IR tint from that brand.ģM Crystaline does come in a 70% and a 90% VLT. You might save a few $$$ if you get XR vs.

Most tints only go as high as 70%.but some are up to 88% (~90%). This XPEL spec sheet shows the lightest VLT you can get for each tint product. I did XPEL PRIME XR Plus 70% for the front windshield. So you have to pick your ceramic IR tint brand and a shop that installs it. Most shops in LA/CA will tint any glass on your car to any VLT you want.
